THE GODS OF RAIN NOT WITH US AGAIN!

NAVIGATION runs another cracking race at MUSSELBURGH over 5 furlongs. The rain arrived early, changing the ground , yet we took the sporting decision to run, and what a race he ran on ground he doesn’t like.
Making all , he finishes 4th , beaten only 1 length , looking like he might hang on… ……..….. a brave performance.
He is showing plenty of speed as he matures………..he could be a well handicapped horse for next season.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 NOV

LAPHONIC runs a wonderful race to finish 2nd on abysmal ground at CATTERICK.
He is a fast ground performer, in trouble after 1 furlong, he shows courage to finish where he did, albeit beaten a long way.
This run confirms he didn’t stay the trip with being too keen last time. He may stay further if we can get him to settle.
He could be a nice prospect for next year. This is his last run.

28 OCT

FULLANDBY wins at NEWMARKET…….Kevin Darley brings home the winner of the Kinnarps conditions Stakes (£10,000 added) by a neck from the 90 rated The Snatcher, with a good performance……..Again travelled strongly. Now he will be put away for the season.

DOUBLE AT WOLVERHAMPTON!!!
22nd October 2005

SOVIET LEGEND wins the first at 20-1, back to 5 furlongs and the blinkers fitted have done the trick! Wonderful for long standing top class owner RUSSELL BRADLEY and partners ROY & ANN HOGTON.
COLLOSEUM
wins the third initiating a double for the talented SALEEM GOLAM - excellent attitude, a boy who will go to the top of the tree.
Owners BRIAN FREER and JOE BRIERLEY having a wonderful day ............. I believe the celebrations have yet to cease! - Brian drives back to the yard to greet his winner!

16th October

FULLANDBY runs a gallant second beaten a head at Musselburgh in the £18,000 h'cap. A great run over the minimum trip - we feel he will be better over the 6f though this was an excellent effort.
LAPHONIC runs over 9 furlongs on the same card, - far too keen, he plainly does not stay this trip at the moment - we'll bring him back and get him to settle. His jockey PAUL FITZIMMONS did a good job anchoring this strong fella and rode to his orders - now we sit down and discuss different trips and tactics. This is a lovely horse.

1st October

LIGHTENING FIRE runs at Southwell and reminds me why i hate the place so much!! The kickback is terrible and this horse doesn't face it - waste of a run!

26th September

HAMILTON, NAVIGATION finishes 6th from a bad draw with the ground turning against him - a fair run through is better coming from behind the pace.

17th September

OPTICAL SECLUSION finishes 4th in a Catterick Maiden over 6f, a fair run as he got carried wide into the straight and may need a more galloping track, he is a big fine individual who we feel could make up into a nice three year old.
LIGHTENING FIRE
finishes 3rd in the maiden. Lightening Fire setting the pace and in front until the final 1/2 furlong - good run.

14th September

BEVERLEY, NAVIGATION run a blinder from stall 1 !! - if he gets through he wins as it is he finishes 2 lengths 6th - proud of him.

10th September

OPTICAL SECLUSION runs at Musselburgh and looks like he isn't staying the 7f at the moment though we feel he will in time.

6th September

CATTERICK, COLLOSEUM & LIGHTENING FIRE finish 2nd & 3rd in the maiden - both excellent runs Colloseum up in the van and Lightening coming from well off the pace. Both well ridden by KEVIN DARLEY and PAUL FITZIMMONS.

5th September

WINNER - Bath, NAVIGATION wins the maiden well under a good ride from Robert Halvin. Waiting in behind, he had the pace to come home well. We feel this fella has the speed for 5f and just gets an easy 6f.

HYMN OF VICTORY

16 May Musselburgh

WON BEST TURNED OUT

Possibly racing too far first time, propping on the ground, he didn’t come home, Robert Winston felt he needs cutting as he is so muscular and a bit top heavy

‘Fraid that could happen!, plenty of time for this guy , will give us fun and may make into an AW horse during the winter - time will tell!

CELTIC THUNDER

7 May Beverley

Drawn well but missed break, could never get through , beaten 3 lengths .

Disappointing ,though he ran well

21 May Carlisle

Finished 3rd and stuck on well. The ground was very fast and the race was run in 59 seconds!!
Six furlongs and good ground should suit this fella, we were pleased with him.

LIGHTENING FIRE

19 May Newcastle

This horse did not get competitive, he has plenty of ability but is very wary of other horses, It may be blinkers or the visor for him, but he will show his true ability one day!!
We will find the key to him.

23 APRIL Busy evening at Wolverhampton!

  • Good 2nd place from KARMINSKEY PARK in the amateur race. Beaten by a 50-1 shot!, who turns out to have won around £500K in Hong Kong in a previous life!

  • FULLANDBY ran a stormer to finish second to BLUE TRAIN ( A 500,000 gns
purchase, entered for the Dante and The Derby), breaking the track record in the process. This fella continues to do well though I feel he still needs to learn to race. Sometimes with these big horses , they need more time to learn their job, learning to settle a bit sooner will help him. An honest, kind horse who I feel will give his owners a lot of fun.

  • AVIZANDUM ran a fair race over an inadequate 5 furlongs, he stuck on well and we feel he will be a stiff 6 furlongs / easy 7 furlongs on turf. He is
bred to be quick over 5 but needs further in reality!! Thought we'd give it
a try. He is a tough sort who will develop during the season.

  • FIRST RHAPSODY ran over a mile and confirmed what we suspected that in a true run race she doesn't stay. She ran well for a long way and hopefully will be placed to advantage during the summer months. She will run back on the polytrack as well.
7 furlongs could be her optimum.

YARD NEWS
The swimming pool will be back in commission at the end of the month.
Cleaned , painted and treated , it is a useful tool during the hot months.
It always amazes us how horses take to a swim after a few sessions. The
horse (in general! ) is a natural swimmer.
The paddocks are looking great, new seedlings are through, the boys are
going to love this!

SOVIET LEGEND

2 yr old , Bay Colt by Soviet Star ex Another Legend
Another Legend - Gp 2 Winner and multiple Group & Listed placed, $322,000!
This fella had his final stalls session and was very professional...lets
hope he performs as well on the track!

12 May Carlisle

First time out, broke smartly and raced keen, with his bad draw we could never get him in and was racing too wide, the experience will do him good and may benefit from another furlong. Lots to learn about this fella!

WE’VE HAD A BABY!!

Our wonderful race mare LYDIA’S LOOK has just had her first foal, a bay filly by BAHAMIAN BOUNTY.
LYDIA
was a winner of 5 races and 10 times placed in the first four from 46 runs, with prize money of £23,162.
She gave us a lot of fun racing and perhaps her offspring will do the same!!

KARMINSKEY PARK

23April Wolverhampton

Again we run a blinder, 2nd in the Amateur race (6F) to Colourful Era.

29 April Nottingham

WINNER of the Fillies h’cap. This looked a fair race on paper and KP won by 1 ¾ lengths, getting the 6F well. The slower ground suited her. Well handled by Robert Havlin.

Having her first run of the season at Wolverhampton. Drawn 9, 7lb out of the handicap runs a blinder to finish fourth to  BONNE DE FLEUR (Listed race winner) 4 days later we took her down to Lingfield and over 6f , again runs a brave race to finish a short head second to ATTORNEY (winner since) just getting caught in the last stride ( a cigarette paper!!). Fastest time of the day!.
A wonderful race mare, is a cracking good looking animal, who gives her owners a lot of fun.
She has run 2 great races, we feel that she gets an easy 6 furlongs and is effective over a stiff 5.

FULLANDBY

23 April Wolverhampton

What a run , always travelling well, in a fair maiden 2nd beaten 1 length by Blue Train (500K by Saddler’s Wells). We were delighted.

They broke the track record!!

WON BEST TURNED OUT

My only wonder is the trip, I’m not convinced he got this fully. Time will tell!!

2 May Newcastle

Another good run , 3rd carrying top weight (Rating 75) to Passionately Royal and Bentley Brook.
Again very keen in behind, Would he be fast enough for 7 furlongs?

Having his first outing of the year, ran at Doncaster in a very hot maiden.
We were satisfied with this comeback, though the race was not run at an even tempo.
We had decided to drop in behind the leaders, take our time and come home over the last 2 furlongs.
(He had been working well at home ridden in this way)

Typically, as with all great plans!!!!!, the race was run at a crawl and our guy was very keen , Joe then had trouble covering him up, when we did and the pace quickened we were left a little flat footed.
He did run on and finished ninth, though we didn’t really learn much more about him.
We do feel he wants cut in the ground though.
Due to run on Tuesday at Newcastle, but meeting was abandoned.

FIRST RHAPSODY

23 May Carlisle

3rd to Knot in Wood and Superstitious over the stiff 6 furlongs here, the ground was on the slow side.
A great run from a bad draw, she showed courage and determination and stuck on.
We feel she will improve and give full value for money!!

First run at Lingfield in 2005. Little pace allowed her to make the running, perhaps too keen , she faded up the short straight.  Having a good blow after the race, she will come on.
At this time we are still undecided about the trip. Having finished 4th over 6f, running on, we felt sure she would stay. However, Robert (Havlin) thinks she may not stay as she was too keen at Lingfield!!
So, a little experimentation is needed!
